After Jane appeared in the sitcom Two and a Half Men from 2004 to 2014 and the drama series The L Word from 2005 to 2009, she earned her super breakthrough in the musical comedy series Glee from 2009 to 2015 and she played the role of  Sue Sylvester.

Later she was cast in the period comedy series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel from 2017 to 2023 playing recurring roles, she also appeared in the drama series The Good Fight from 2017 to 2022, and from 2021 to 2024, Lynch appeared in the mystery comedy series Only Murders in the Building.
