David Schechter is a polished and famous American Emmy award-winning journalist and television personality currently working at CBS News as the National Climate Correspondent where he covers the the global risks of climate change. Moreover, it is the hoist of the program On the Dot with David Schechter, which through the show focuses and explores how we’re changing the earth and how earth is changing us. However, before joining CBC News, David worked as a local news reporter in Minneapolis, Dubuque, Dallas, Kansas City, and Youngstown.

Later Schechter transitioned to join WDAF-TV in Kansas City, Missouri in 1996 where he served as the Special Projects Reporter until 1999. He left the station to join WCCO-TV in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and served as the Investigative Reporter from 1999 to 2006.
In addition to his journalism career journey, David left WCCO-TV to join WFAA-TV in Dallas, Texas, where he served as the senior reporter from 2006 to 2022. During his time at the station, David spent his first decade at WFAA covering typical local news. However, in 2015, he was acknowledged for his documentary after the 2013 West Fertilizer Company Explosion, and the news documentary he presented was titled Rise Up, West which led to him winning his second Murrow Award.
